shuttles customers to museum venues and back to Long Beach for a round trip fare of only
$6.00. Friendly, professional operators will serve as on-board guides and provide customers with
the superior service that Long Beach Transit is known for on ADA-accessible buses that have

1963 E. Anaheim Street, or at 223 E. First Street in Long Beach, CA. The ticket price does not
include any potential venue admission costs, and customers are encouraged to contact the venue
they will be visiting to determine special considerations such as dress code requirements and
available food services. More information and a full daily schedule of chartered venues can be
found online by clicking the links on this page or by calling 562- 591-2301 to request a brochure.

The Orange County Gourd Society                                posted 14 May 2008
can provide interesting educational programs on growing and crafting with gourds. We have
provided presentations to garden clubs, seniors, civic groups, schools, youth organizations, and
art/craft societies.  Programs include a speaker and exhibit, and usually range from 30 min to
1.5 hours  In lieu of any honorarium to speakers we prefer a donation to the OC Gourd
Society.  We are the local affiliate of the California Gourd Society (501-C3).
Our programs are always well received...they include a display of various gourd art, musical
instruments, dolls, storage vessels and ornaments made of gourds. We provide handouts on
growing gourds and give seeds to get folks started having fun with gourds.  For more
information go to
www.orangecountygourdsociety.org. To request a speaker email
susansphn@aol.com  or call 714 997-4482. Hoping to share some gourdfun with you soon!

Can You Help ?
There is a group of young
adolescents ages 12 to 18 in
Santa Ana at a place called
Phoenix House, a drug and
alcohol rehab . They are
usually sent there by the
courts.  The  staff is doing a
very good job of
rehabilitating these young
people. Most of them have
not had much of a family life.
 During the time they are
there they are taught the
value of family and of social
responsibility. Martha Wida
has volunteered there for
several years with the U C
Master Gardeners teaching
them gardening.

At the moment they are in
need of wood to make more
square foot gardening boxes.
 They hope to have one
raised bed for each student.
(45) The beds are four feet
square and about 6" high.
They  will consider anything
anyone has.

Please contact Martha
directly if you have anything
to offer.
