Can You Help ?
There is a group of young
adolescents ages 12 to 18 in
Santa Ana at a place called
Phoenix House, a drug and
alcohol rehab . They are
usually sent there by the
courts.  The  staff is doing a
very good job of
rehabilitating these young
people. Most of them have
not had much of a family life.
During the time they are
there they are taught the
value of family and of social
responsibility. Martha Wida
has volunteered there for
several years with the U C
Master Gardeners teaching
them gardening.

At the moment they are in
need of wood to make more
square foot gardening boxes.
 They hope to have one
raised bed for each student.
(45) The beds are four feet
square and about 6" high.
They  will consider anything
anyone has.

Please contact Martha
directly if you have anything
to offer.

Modjeska Canyon
Plant Driv
e Saturday Nov
17th 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.
As many of you know
Modjeska Canyon is a place of
sanctuary and natural beauty.
The fire has been a great loss
for residents, the Modjeska

the many gardens and wildlife
that have existed within the
community for years.

If you would like to contribute,
they will be accepting native/
drought resistant plants, trees,
ground cover, and shrubs along
with compost soil.

They will also be taking
donations for the Modjeska
Canyon fire department. 100%
of the donations will go directly
to the fire department. Details
